Last year, we explored some of the world’s most stunning nude beaches in Spain, France, Croatia, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Portugal, and the UK. With pretty much all of 2025 still ahead of us, we wanted to share some of our personal favourites. Whether you’re a seasoned naturist or considering your first clothing-free experience, we hope this guide inspires your next adventure!
Spain: Formentera’s Playa Ses Illetes
Let’s start in Spain, where we visited the mythical island of Formentera, known as one of the most nude-friendly places in Europe. Nudity is more or less accepted on any beach, but Playa Ses Illetes at the northern tip of the island tends to attract a lot of naked sunbathers. As a UNESCO World Heritage site, it ranks among the world’s best beaches. This stunning peninsula has pristine beaches on both sides, reminiscent of the Maldives or the Caribbean.
However, its beauty doesn’t go unnoticed. Due to its popularity, Ses Illetes attracts many day-trippers from Ibiza, making it quite crowded. For a more relaxed experience, visit during the week rather than on weekends. Most people tend to gather near the first cove by the bar, so walking further along the peninsula offers a quieter, more nude-friendly experience.
Best time to visit: May-June and September-October
Spain: Calas de Roche
Staying in Spain, we shift our focus to the mainland, about 45 minutes south of Cádiz, to the stunning Calas de Roche, a natural reserve of picturesque coves. The first cove you’ll encounter is Cala El Frailecillo, which even has a sign designating it as clothing-optional. Further along, Cala El Enebro and Cala del Pato also welcome nude visitors. From the cliffs above, you can overlook the coves and choose your perfect spot before heading down via staircases.
At low tide, you can even stroll from one cove to another, creating a sense of exploration and discovery. The rocky formations create secluded pockets of sandy bliss, perfect for undisturbed sunbathing. These coves are less crowded compared to other beaches in the region, offering a peaceful retreat surrounded by stunning coastal nature.
Best time to visit: May-June and September-October
Croatia: Bunculuka Beach, Krk Island
Moving on to Croatia, the beach at Bunculuka Camping Resort on Krk Island offers everything needed for a perfect day under the sun. There’s a cosy bar and restaurant, plus a small grocery store and souvenir shop. Sunbeds and umbrellas are available for rent, and it’s one of the few nude beaches in Croatia with a designated dog area, making it pet-friendly.
Beyond the resort, you’ll find three more secluded, clothing-optional beaches reachable only by hiking or boat. Plaža Jablanova, Mali Raj, and Vela Vrzenica provide a wilder, more adventurous vibe, with hiking trails offering stunning views. These remote spots are perfect for those seeking solitude and an unspoiled connection with nature.
Best time to visit: May-October
Croatia: Kandarola Beach, Rab Island
A stone’s throw from Krk is the island of Rab, home to Europe’s oldest official nude beach: Kandarola. With sun loungers, parasols, showers, and even a restaurant serving local dishes, it provides an excellent day resort experience. Legend has it that King Edward VIII of the UK popularized this beach in the 1930s when he received special permission to swim nude.
Kandarola offers a unique blend of history and modern amenities, making it an ideal destination for those who enjoy a comfortable yet authentic nude experience. The crystal-clear waters and lush surroundings enhance the serene atmosphere, while the well-maintained facilities cater to all-day relaxation.
Best time to visit: May-October
UK: Pedn Vounder Beach, Cornwall
In the UK, we highlight Pedn Vounder beach in Cornwall. While the weather can be unpredictable, the remote, rugged beauty of this beach is worth the effort. The trail down requires good footwear and a reasonable level of fitness, but the breathtaking scenery makes it one of the most stunning nude beaches we’ve ever visited.
The golden sands and turquoise waters give Pedn Vounder a Mediterranean feel and create a very particular charm. Despite its remoteness, the beach has gained popularity in recent years, so visiting early in the day is recommended for a more peaceful experience.
Best time to visit: Well… You need to be a bit lucky but aim for July-August
Australia: Samurai Beach, New South Wales
In Australia, Samurai Beach stands out as one of the few nude beaches worldwide that allows motorized vehicles. Driving on the beach is an adventure, and there’s even a campground accessible only via the sand. Thoughtful driving practices are encouraged to ensure the beach remains a pristine nude-friendly destination.
Apart from its adventurous appeal, Samurai Beach is known for its wild and vibrant atmosphere. It makes you feel like if you’re at the end of the world…with your car.
Best time to visit: October-March
New Zealand: Pohutukawa Beach
Near Auckland, Pohutukawa Beach offers a fairy-tale-like walk through rolling hills before reaching a sandy stretch with crystal-clear waters. The shade from Pohutukawa trees provides perfect shelter, making this a top pick in New Zealand.
We also loved Little Palm Beach on Waiheke Island, which boasts a vibrant social atmosphere with couples, families, and groups of friends enjoying the naturist lifestyle. Whether you prefer a quiet retreat or a lively experience, New Zealand’s nude beaches have something for everyone.
Best time to visit: December-March
Mexico: Zipolite Beach
Zipolite in Mexico holds a special place in our hearts. Beyond its clothing-optional beach, the town has a super relaxed hippie vibe and numerous resorts. The beach bars provide an urban feel, but the strong ocean currents can make swimming challenging.
The sunsets at Zipolite are absolutely stunning, drawing crowds to the shore each evening to watch the sky turn brilliant shades of orange and pink. Despite the strong waves, there’s always a welcoming and friendly atmosphere among the beachgoers.
Best time to visit: November-April
Portugal: Praia do Homem Nu
In the Algarve, Praia do Homem Nu (literally “beach of naked humans”) on Tavira Island is a small naked paradise. A fun tourist train takes you to the beach, but if you prefer walking, it’s just a short 15-20-minute trek. The further east you go, the more nude-friendly it becomes.
This beach offers a perfect mix of tranquillity and beauty, with soft golden sands and gentle waves. Naturists looking for an unspoiled escape will find Praia do Homem Nu to be an ideal spot to relax and soak up the sun.
Best time to visit: April-November
France: Saint Germain sur Ay
Finally, we wrap up our journey in France at Saint Germain sur Ay. This official nude beach offers a unique experience with a massive oyster farm that becomes visible at low tide. The expansive beach provides ample space for sunbathing and skinny dipping.
The surrounding dunes create a beautiful backdrop, and the beach’s official nude status ensures a comfortable atmosphere for all visitors.
Best time to visit: June-September
We hope this list has inspired you to explore some of these fantastic nude beaches in 2025. Whether you visit one of these destinations or discover a new favourite, embracing naturism in beautiful surroundings is always a rewarding experience. Happy travels and stay clothes-free!
