The Naturist Talks: Remco from the Netherlands

As you may have read in the very first post of this blog, one of the main reasons why we started this project is to show the world that naturists are not some strange dark commune but that actually everyone could be one… Or could enjoy being one if they took the first step.

Our main example of “everyone” is of course ourselves, we write posts about naturism in general but also about our own experiences. But some of you might be thinking “Yes sure, those two are probably just the strange kids in the block…” (nah, we know you’re not thinking that about us, but we’re trying to write an introduction here). So we decided to let other naturists have a word as well.

What you find here will be a series of interviews called The Naturist Talk, which will last as long as we find people who want to talk about their experiences with naturism. We will try to bring you a variety of people, men and women, young and a little bit less young from all over the world who told us what naturism means to them, how they got into it and how it works out for them.
So please sit back and get inspired!

Our first naturist is Remco from the Netherlands.

Hello Remco, tell us something about yourself

Hi, my name is Remco, I’m 26 years old and I live in the Netherlands. My job is being a caretaker in the elderly care.

I live in an appartment together with my husband and my dog. I’ve been a naturist for about 4 years now and I frequently visit naturist beaches in the Netherlands.

How and at what age did you become a naturist?
As I said before, I’ve been a naturist for about 4 years. Some people become naturist because their parents are, but my parents certainly don’t share my ideas on this topic. 4 years ago I went out of the blue to a naturist beach and since then I’m totally sold!

Is naturism allowed in your country and what’s the public opinion?
In the Netherlands naturism is allowed at certain assigned places like certain beaches, campings or recreation sites. But people in general don’t really have an open mind about these places. The majority associates naturism and nudity in general with sex, which is certainly not the case at all. It’s a pity really.

We hate to divide people into groups, but we’ll do it anyway…
Do you consider yourself a naturist, a nudist or an occasional nudist?
I consider myself somewhere between the occasional nudist and the “full” nudist. But I certainly don’t think of myself as a naturist because I don’t really image4follow the philosophy of naturism. I just really like the nude beaches and there are days when I just don’t want to have any clothes on.

Do you find it easy to make naturist friends?
No. I find it hard to make naturist friends. First of all because there are not some many nudists of my age, but also because there’s still a taboo around naturism so I can’t really talk about it with my friends.

What’s the best tip you have for beginning naturists?
Just go for it!
Like for every first time, the first step is the hardest. Don’t think it through too much, take your clothes off and dive in!

Anything else you’d like to share with our audience?
Love yourself and love life!

Thank you so much for your participation Remco!
